Surgical Lighting Upgrade
Broward County Hospital, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, 1998

E M C Engineers, Inc., working in conjunction with Berchtold Corporation, designed and constructed a surgical lighting upgrade for the operating rooms at Broward General Hospital. EMC worked closely with OR staff to schedule construction times in specific rooms, minimizing downtime in the operating suites.

The project was completed in 3 months, 3 weeks ahead of schedule. Construction included dismantling existing surgical fixtures, installing structural steel supports for new Berchtold Surgical Lighting, installing the new surgical lighting system, rewiring the lights and lighting controls, plus patching and painting the ceilings. The surgical staff was extremely pleased with the much improved surgical lighting, and the attention to coordination by the design-build team.
