About EMC Services Markets Served Experience News
LonWorks Based DDC System
EMC Engineers, Inc. was the system integration company for the first LonWorks® based DDC system for Air Combat Command (ACC), built at the Administrative and Base Supply Warehouse at Langley AFB, Virginia. The project included DDC of a VAV air handling unit, VAV terminals, metering, boilers, chillers, pumping systems, and lighting control.

The project included integrating seven different LonWorks® based hardware systems from six different manufacturers and four different software packages from four vendors. The final communication configuration utilizes LonWorks® free topology transceivers communicating over twisted pair wiring in the building at 78 kbps, and communications over the Base Ethernet LAN to the EMCS operator in Base Civil Engineering Building 328.

EMC is currently monitoring the installation and preparation of an evaluation report on the systems operation. EMC is also preparing a long-range plan for ACC migration of facility automation to LonWorks® based systems, developing design standards for LonWorks® as applied to building systems, and preparing LonWorks® based HVAC control system specifications for ACC.
