Design HVAC Repair and DDC Upgrade
National Hurricane Center, Miami, FL, 1998
EMC provided the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) with Architectural/Engineering Services necessary to investigate and report all HVAC and associated control deficiencies at the Weather Forecast Office/National Hurricane Center (WFO/NHC) in Miami, FL.
This project involved a site visit to test, evaluate, operate, and inspect the HVAC installation and provide complete documentation of findings. All system components, including AHUs, condensing units, humidifiers, ductwork, dampers, motors, refrigerant piping systems, etc., were inspected for proper installation and operation.
Calculated heat loads were provided for each room/zone.
EMC provided calibrated field measurement equipment to verify the performance of the air
distribution
system. System air flows and operating temperatures were measured and recorded.
A report was prepared, outlining problems found, adjustments and repairs made, and recommended repairs needed to the system. The report included calculated equipment heat loads, balancing air flows required for various zones in the building, an evaluation of the existing DDC system, and an evaluation of the sequence of operations.
Preliminary and pre-final design packages for an optimum DDC system were prepared. Bid packages of drawings and specifications suitable for competitive bidding were provided, along with a construction cost estimate. |
