Commissioning of the Information Technology Building, Georgia Southern University, Statesboro, GA

The new School of Computer Information Technology (CIT) Building is a 120,000 sq. ft., high-tech classroom and administrative building containing over 3,600 data connection drops.  The classroom and lecture halls incorporate the latest technologies in data networking and audio/video capabilities.  This was a design-building fast track project by the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia.  The building HVAC system is served by a detached and dedicated energy plant providing chilled water and heating hot water.  The air handling systems include variable air volume and constant volume.

EMC performed commissioning services during the design, construction, acceptance and warranty phases of the following systems:
  • HVAC systems
  • Energy recovery systems
  • Energy management control system
  • Electrical systems from the service entrance and to the distribution panels
  • Emergency power system
  • Fire alarm/fire protection systems
  • Network cabling systems
  • Network hardware validation
  • Audio/video and security systems

Commissioning of this project resulted in:

  • Safe access for service and O&M
  • Greater energy efficiency
  • Numerous issues identified through all phases and follow-through of resolution for each
